1) I got a late start this morning, but I remembered to wear red for Valentine's Day: socks and tie. And actually, I'm wearing a gray shirt, so I guess that works for Ash Wednesday.
1a) I can't say the Methodists ever made a production over Ash Wednesday. It wasn't until I moved to New England that I even became aware of the whole ritual of ashes on the forehead made from burning the palms of the previous year's Palm Sunday.
2) If you can't wear red, think pink!
3) "Temptation Island" in the office is the top of a credenza featuring food offerings: leftovers from meetings, home-baked delights from colleagues, or random culinary detritus. Today features a traditional heart-shaped box of chocolates and another container of chocolate candies. All morning I've been saying "Hashtag Resist!" It's not working.
