Tuesday Morning, September 26

1) From the Department of the Obvious: there's no souvenir as ephemeral as a candle. Once it's burned, it's gone; a wax stub rarely retains a full memory. The beeswax candles I bought at one of the monasteries of Meteora in Greece a year ago have now served their useful life. Visiting there was meaningful in ways I didn't expect, but I will have to remember that visit without this visual reminder.

2) A mantle goes over your shoulders. A mantel goes over your fireplace. Don't get them mixed.

3) These days even if I'm awake early, I can't really describe myself as a Morning Person.
