The expected and the unexpected today.
The Expected:
1) As mentioned before, the number of poeple in my life who can be described as "old college friends" is a very small number. So it was a real pleasure to lunch with Caroline (see above) in Kendall Square and catch up about . . . well, about just about anything but ye oldye tymes.
2) Immediately afterward went to a retirement party for a colleague, which was really nice and relaxed, and with fabulous pastries. And I thought "In ten years, this will be my party."
The Unexpected:
3) While preparing dinner I was listening to the Awesome Etiquette podcast from the Emily Post Institute. Last week I sent them some feedback on a recent podcast that included a question about how to serve strawberries, with a link to my old column on how to shake sugar over your berries. Imagine my surprise when I heard them sharing my feedback! Check out today's episode, #198, at the link above.
