Tuesday Morning, April 23

April 23, 2019

1) Today’s the day the movers are supposed to arrive from Lago di Carlo. I confirmed with the moving company yesterday, and they gave me an arrival time of 8:00 - 10:00 AM. It’s 8:55, and no sign yet.

2) Over three weeks ago I reserved the parking spaces in front of the house with the city, and I posted all the flyers and placards as directed. So you can imagine my anxiety when I looked out the window just before 8 and saw a car parked right in the middle! Consternation! And what to do?! I really didn’t want to be That Person and call the city for a tow, but I also needed those bought-and-paid-for spaces to make things easy. “Things will all work out,” I said to myself . . . and they did. About 8:30 I saw the driver putting something into the trunk, and I bolted onto the porch to ask (very sweetly) “Would you mind awfully moving your car?” And the driver was going anyway, so things did work out.

2a) But now I feel like I have to check every five minutes to be sure no one else has parked there. :-/

3) It’s very much a Harriet Craig kind of day. “Those you live to themselves are left to themselves.”
