1) According to the Tuesday Briefing in the Times, today is the 48th anniversary of the opening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I will never forget the first time I saw it, during Thanksgiving break of 1981 in Detroit - the first time I'd ever been to a theatre that confiscated switchblades in the lobby. I really had no idea what to expect, especially all the costumes - color me naive! - but what I remember most is a woman behind me who screamed "WHERE'S YOUR FUCKIN' NECK?!" every time the Criminologist came on screen, when I couldn't understand what he was saying in the first place anyway.
2) Coffee in bed, which I haven't done in a long time.
3) Technically right now I'm reading five different books: Doctor Zhivago, The History of White Trash in America, The Waldorf-Astoria: America's Gilded Dream, a history of the Stork Club, and a book about political risk theory I checked out of the Athenaeum on Saturday.
