1) Happy Hallowe'en from Weeping Baby Pumpkin Head! This ends the 2017 October adventures of Weeping Baby Pumpkin Head; tomorrow he goes back on the shelf for another year. I know haters are gonna hate, but please don't hate too much. This silly diversion has kept me from traveling through the Slough of Despond.

2) Systems Rant I: As of 20 minutes ago I'm officially in the position of needing to get a new phone now. A severed wire on the charger of my four-year-old flip phone prevents me from charging it at all. "The moment," as Sir Roderick Bland says in Noel Coward's short story "Bon Voyage," "is urgent." Now, where would I get an i***** without going to the A***e store?
